Hi, I’m Yoyo the founder and creator of Yoyo Laos Sauce.
In Laos we like to eat spicy food with plenty of chilli. Sauce or ‘Jeow’ has always been an important part of a traditional Lao meal alongside grilled fish, stir fry or my favourite sticky rice!
After moving to the UK in 2015, I really missed my Lao food! Fortunately, I found that I could source what I needed to make authentic dishes just like they tasted at home. In summer I took my Laos sauce to several barbecues and everyone enjoyed it. “if you bottled that, I’d buy it’ was the comment. Well... that’s exactly what I decided to do!
In 2020, I created Yoyo Laos Sauce as a business and my sauce is now being enjoyed across the country. Yoyo Laos Sauce can be used as a dipping sauce, as a marinade, added to a stir-fry or salad to really spice things up. As we say in Laos “Sap lai lai” which means very tasty!
Winning Great Taste™ awards in 2021 and again in 2022 together with the best overall sauce at the National Chilli Awards in 2022 has inspired us to create further delicious, flavour-packed sauces bringing the real taste of Laos to your table.
Yoyo Laos Sauce is made in small batches combining ginger, chilli and garlic for an authentic Southeast Asian taste. Our sauce is available in regular 100ml size or go large with our 250ml bottle!
For those who like their sauce a little hotter, we sell an ‘Extra Hot’ version loaded with more chilli for extra heat.
We take pride in making Yoyo Laos Sauce with the freshest ingredients. Green chilli, red chilli, ginger and garlic are all carefully prepared and blended. We then add sugar, salt and lime juice to create a unique taste which we guarantee is unlike any other hot sauce you’ve tried before!
Ginger contains gingerol which is loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain. Ginger has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and improve various heart disease risk factors as well as containing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and beneficial for people with indigestion. It’s one of the very few superfoods which is worthy of that term.
Yoyo Laos Sauce is free from gluten, allergens and is vegan so everyone can enjoy it. Shake well before using and once opened keep in the fridge and consume within three months.
Laos has the unfortunate title of the most bombed country in history per capita. The legacy of the Vietnam War continues to impact lives and livelihoods in my home country. More than two million tons of cluster bombs were dropped with around 30% of these not detonating. Four decades later these relics of war continue to blight land, cause life changing injuries and loss of life in often rural communities.
There’s so much work still to do in Laos with over 1600km2 of land currently contaminated. Unexploded bombs have killed 20,000 people since the war ended, almost half have been children. Every bottle of Yoyo Laos Sauce purchased helps make countries like Laos safer, Khop Jai (thank you).
